ThinkStand Laptop Stand

Custom two-in-one laptop stand/riser for my ThinkPad.

When I moved into my dorm, I realized I had limited desk space. After spending hours online searching for a laptop stand, I could not find one that met my needs. I had access to my school's 3D printers and an educational license for Fusion 360, so I decided to design and create my laptop stand.

To begin the design process, I carefully measured the dimensions of my ThinkPad laptop. I wanted the laptop stand to be designed specifically for my laptop to ensure a perfect fit.

Next, I considered my needs for the laptop stand. I wanted it to function as a second display but also have the option to tuck the laptop away if I needed more desk space. After brainstorming and sketching out a few ideas, I came up with the concept of the ThinkStand - a two-in-one laptop stand that could serve both purposes.

Using Fusion 360, I created a 3D model of the ThinkStand. I paid close attention to the dimensions and angles of the design, ensuring that it would be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Since I was 3D printing, I had to split the stand into two and create tabs to assemble it afterward. This ensured that the pieces would fit on the printer bed and could be easily assembled once printed.

Once I was happy with the 3D model, I 3D printed a prototype of the ThinkStand using my school's 3D printer. I tested the prototype to ensure that it met my needs and made adjustments as necessary.

The ThinkStand Laptop Stand I designed and created was a highly functional and efficient solution to my limited desk space. The custom-fit design, two-in-one functionality, aesthetically pleasing design, and easy assembly made it a valuable addition to my workspace.
